The International Rivers Network - Linking Human Rights and Environmental Protection. The IRN supports local communities working to protect their rivers and watersheds. Global Water Partnership: During recent years an international consensus has emerged on fundamental principles for water resources management. These principles were endorsed in 1992 at conferences on water and the environment in Dublin and Rio de Janeiro. To help translate these principles into practice the Global Water Partnership (GWP) was formally established at a founding meeting in Stockholm in August 1996. The Partnership is an international network open to all parties involved in water resources management, e.g. governments of developing as well as developed countries, UN agencies, multilateral banks, professional associations, research organisations, the private sector and NGO's

WATERMARK is the world-wide website for drinking water supply surveillance and monitoring in developing and transitional countries. The information available from this site contributes to the World Health Organization's 'Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality'. The development of the information included in the WATERMARK site was supported by DFID (UK) under its Knowledge and Research programme. The WATERMARK site is managed by the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) at Loughborough University in the UK.

The World’s Water, a site dedicated to providing up-to-date water information and data, and web connections to organizations, institutions, and individuals working on a wide range of global freshwater problems and solutions.

UCOWR
The Universities Council on Water Resources is a professional organization of universities united to encourage education and research in water resources ( history and goals ). UCOWR has over ninety member universities with over four hundred delegates. UCOWR convenes its annual conference every August. The organization is guided by a Board of Directors, a strategic plan, and By Laws, and a system of committees.

UNICEF's Water, environment and sanitation programme

UNICEF's first action in the area of water and sanitation was in response to a crippling drought that affected hundreds of villages in northern India in 1966. Since then, UNICEF has worked in more than 80 countries improving access to safe water and sanitation and promoting hygiene awareness.
